Maintaining Vital Operations During Construction at Meridian Wastewater Treatment Plant

Enterprise Electric was selected as electrical contractor by The Ewing Company for the Meridian Wastewater Treatment plant project, which involved erecting a metal prefab structure to protect existing wastewater filtering equipment and operations.

Maintaining uninterrupted operations during the project was critical. Thus, in the excavation phase, Enterprise Electric emergency crews were called on a few times to re-establish electrical service after unmarked underground lines were accidentally damaged (not all underground lines at the construction site were clearly marked in drawings).

For the structure itself, outside-rated receptacles and rigid steel pipes (NEMA 3-R) were used to protect against corrosion and damage. Energy-saving lighting, plus motor HVAC controls were installed, and a fire alarm solution for the new structure was integrated into the plant’s existing system. All work was completed on time and on budget, without any disruptions to vital filtering operations.

Lighting Retrofit for Simplot Food Group Will Cut Energy Costs by more than $16,000 a Year

February 22, 2011, Boise, Idaho – Enterprise Electric, a leading electrical contractor serving industrial, commercial and residential customers in western Idaho and eastern Oregon, completed yet another large lighting retrofit project, replacing 1,667 outdated fixtures at the headquarters building of the Simplot Food Group in Boise, Idaho.

With Idaho Power "Easy Upgrades" rebate incentives exceeding $38,000 and annual energy savings totaling $16,481, the retrofit is expected to pay for itself in just 12 months.

Although Simplot was initially concerned about the effect the standard procedure of “delamping” might have (delamping involves replacing older, inefficient fixtures with fewer, but more efficient, new fixtures), a trial demonstration allayed concerns and the project was initiated. A 3-person Enterprise Electric crew worked after business hours to avoid disrupting normal operations and installed more than 1,660 highly-efficient T-8 fluorescent fixtures. The project was completed on-time/on-budget in just 4 weeks. Read focus story (PDF).

Lighting Retrofit of Key Financial Center Projected to Reduce Electricity Costs Over $26,000 a Year

January 20, 2011, Boise, Idaho – Enterprise Electric, a leading electrical contractor serving industrial, commercial and residential customers in western Idaho and eastern Oregon, completed one of the largest lighting retrofit projects in the state, replacing over 1,600 outdated fixtures in Key Financial Center.

Annual savings will total $23,761, with an additional $2,276 saved on HVAC expenses due to reduced cooling requirements thanks to the lower heat generated by the new fixtures. Based on a net project costs of $24,367 (after Idaho Power “Easy Upgrades” rebate incentives), the project will pay for itself in about 11 months.

In order not to disrupt tenants of the building during the workday, a three-electrician crew from Enterprise Electric worked nightly from 6:00 pm to 2:30 am. This enabled the crew be as efficient as possible, resulting in project completion in just five weeks.

The quality of Enterprise Electric’s workmanship was demonstrated by the fact that the project passed Idaho Power’s final inspection the first time...with no issues. Read focus story (PDF).
